Mini Art School #4

Here's my 60 second video:

I am revising my post add this part. Sorry that it is a little late. For both this post and my movie that is posted right before this, I used iMovie. It was my first time using iMovie and really using a Mac, but I really loved the program. I only used it for this video for the title, but for my 60 second movie I used a lot of different tools and features.

  1. Hi Jessica,

That was a very good 60 second video. It shows how powerful the short film can be and how it can send a message through the medium. The last comment - treat others how you would like to be treated is our class rule for the year. Someone mentioned that when we were developing rules for the year and basically every other rule fits into that one.

Your storyboard is well done and organized. I like how you tried out the various color schemes on the board to use throughout the site. It looks like IMovie worked very well.

  2. Hello Jessica,

I love the iMovie and I would love to try it. Was it difficult? The History storyline was a winner with the message of "how to treat others" was great. I love the cast of characters and the powerful still. You used various media -- what were they?

I will include iMovie as a media to try.

    Thanks,
    De Bora

  3. Hi Jess,

I already commented on your storyboard in the other post, so I'm responding to your Concept in 60 video here. It came out great! I really like how you used footage of what the kids were saying to represent what they were talking about. That was exactly what I was attempting to convey to you in the emails we exchanged, so I'm glad it worked out! Your kids are adorable, by the way :) Thanks for taking the time to address all the instructions for completion of the Concept in 60.

You did a really nice job with this assignment!

To De Bora's comment about iMovie, I worked in iMovie when I completed a Concept in 60 video this past summer, and I LOVED it. I think it's a great easy-to-use program once you get the hang of the various options you have to create your finished product. In fact, I loved iMovie so much that I REALLY want to buy a Mac now just to have access to it. I was debating getting an iPad 2 just so I can use iMovie (and for professional development/APP reviews/etc.) because it's less expensive than a MacBook. Honestly I'm at the point where I may just go for the MacBook anyway because I've always wanted one, especially now that I've seen the power of iMovie! :)

  4. Hi DeBora and Erica,

I will echo you Erica and say that I LOVED iMovie. My husband has a Mac and my students have said that they really found iMovie easy, so I wanted to give it a try. It was so easy, particularly when there is a tutorial as soon as you open it up. Any questions I had beyond that, I just Googled and found the answers. I used my video camera to shoot all the video and then used iMovie to separate the audio from the video, so I could replace the visual when I wanted to or just have the visual with no sound. It is really easy to do credits throughout.

So, I love iMovie, even though I still find using a Mac for more familiar tasks (like Word Processing or even downloading and saving files) very frustrating.

    Thanks for the feedback!

    Jess
